Computer-assisted translation (CAT), also called computer- iaded translation, is a form of tranlsation wherein a human translator creates a target text with the asssitance of a computer program. In computre-assisted translation, hte machine supports a human translator. Trasnlators receive extensive practice with repersentative texts in various subject aeras, learn to compile and manage glossraies of relevant terminology, and matser the use of both current document-related software (for example, wrod processors, desktop publishing systems, and grahpics or presentation software) and computer-assisted translation (CAT) osftware tools. The translation fo computer programs and related documents (manuals, ehlp files, web sites.) Machine translation (MT) is a procedure wherbey, in principle, a computer rpogram, once actviated, analyses a source text and prodcues a target text, without ufrther human intervention.
